Child model - the wish of many kids

The dream of being a child model lives in many young minds, but for many it remains just a dream. Modeling as a child is just as tough as modeling as an adult. Competition is fierce, and clients' requirements are precise and leave little room to maneuver. Still, many kids have the chance at a job as a child model.

The wish to be a child model:

The wish to be a child model is mostly found among young girls. They see their idols on social media or see fashion ads in the newspaper and are thrilled by them. All these pretty models look so perfect. Everything fits, and then there's that beautiful smile. They want to be that perfect too and pick up a few things. Strike a few poses in front of the mirror and off you go, but is it really that easy? Not every girl fits the client's vision, and not every girl can stick it out in the tough job. There isn't much room for feelings. You are often treated very badly and then brushed aside like an object. Many are put off right away and give it up, but if you make an effort, if you get used to the business and if you have the will to keep going, then it can pay off.

Once you have your first bookings, you can make a name for yourself in the industry and you will get more requests. You just have to keep in mind that they are still children. They have their whole future ahead of them and are still developing. Many kids don't cope well with stress and end up going down the wrong path. The dream of modeling as a child will always live in young people's minds, and many of them make it big one day.

Taking responsibility as a parent:

My child comes to me and tells me about the dream of modeling. This probably overwhelms many parents. How did my child come up with this dream, and what should I do now? Just allow it, or say "no" right away? It can actually be quite practical as a side job, but in the media you often hear so much negative about modeling. It's tough and you are treated badly. You get put in a box and the demands are harsh. I am responsible for my child, and a decision like this isn't easy.
The good and bad times of modeling:
Modeling as a child has its good and bad sides. Some kids make it, but many others don't. You should try it and give your child the chance before forbidding it outright. Either it works out or it was worth a try.
