Models - Start Your Career as a Model

Walk the runways of the world in front of celebrities and it-girls? Visit the coolest fashion capitals while wearing the hottest dresses from world-famous designers? As a model you can experience all of that and earn money with ease along the way.

Top model is the dream job of many girls. That's easy to understand, because as a well-paid model you not only earn a lot of money with your good looks, you also meet numerous celebrities from all over the world at your gigs and are on a first-name basis with the big names of the fashion industry. For your jobs you travel around the world and, with a bit of luck, you get to shoot in the world's dream locations.

Start your career as a model. To have a big modeling career ahead of you, you of course have to put in the work first, because the competition is tough. As a model you need to be convincing and can't just rely on your well-groomed appearance. Today the fashion industry mostly wants models who have that special something. A charming and likeable presence can also score you points when you apply as a model.

To become a model you can get into the business early. Most models already gathered their first experience in childhood and so already have a foot in the door. Around the age of 14 you can apply to the big agencies as a model. If you can already show an appealing portfolio, it goes down well with the casting director

Your Comp Card Has to Convince!

If you need a comp card to apply to different agencies, make sure you have a professional photographer by your side who can put you in the proverbial best light. Keep your portfolio completely natural. To assess you properly, an agency's casting director has to be able to see your natural look. The best way for them to judge you is for you to submit photos showing you straight on, without makeup and with your hair tied back. Act naturally in your application photos and don't gloss over your own personality.

When you're then invited to a job interview, win the clients over with your personality. Stay modest and don't come across as arrogant. In the modeling business it's always an advantage if you can speak at least fluent English. Be yourself, even when nerves get the better of you. Come across confidently and convince with your individual style. Once you've been chosen as a model for a campaign, you can usually win over other clients too.
