The male model - men conquer the fashion world

Life as a model has always turned out to be a very tough business, one that young people tout as the dream to be lived out. After all, it means plenty of travel while doing what they already do in their spare time anyway - taking photos. Of course, all of this happens on a professional basis, and models usually don't take their own pictures either, but are simply photographed before being asked to show off their best poses. Even so, working as a model is a dream above all for younger girls. Male models are often left out of the picture - clearly a women's domain, it seems. Yet there are plenty of men who call themselves male models and who have to prove themselves anew every single day in order to make a living.

In general, it is possible to take on different positions within the fashion industry. Most people know the typical model as seen on well-known magazines or on TV, but there are all kinds of fields and industries that need different types of models. A well-known example is the type of model who lends only her hands to advertisers, showcasing all sorts of hygiene products that promise especially smooth or soft skin. Still, the focus is mainly on the kind of model you find at fashion shows, which is why this article aims to shed a little light on the work of the male model, something that all too often gets pushed into the background.

The male model - within a women's domain

In principle, there are no big differences between female and male models. In the end, it is always about using your own body to showcase a product, or simply yourself, as well as possible, so that advertisers can use the resulting material for commercials or magazines. However, keep in mind that body image differs greatly between women and men. Models are not exactly known for being seen wolfing down a greasy burger. As a result, the well-known names in the scene stand out for a very thin and slim figure that shows off the clothing perfectly. Of course, there are also men who embody this look, but a different ideal is pursued here. While women are expected to appear as slim as possible, a male model should stand out above all for his toned, trained physique. In short, the job itself doesn't differ all that much between female and male models - the ideal to be embodied, however, differs all the more.
